LaFonda Middleton matriculated at Albany State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 1993. She continued her education at the University of Florida College of Law. While at the University of Florida, she received the Book Award for achieving the highest grade point average amongst minority students. She obtained her Juris Doctorate in 1996.
Upon graduation from law school LaFonda worked for the Office of the Public Defender as an Assistant Public Defender until November 2000. While at the Public Defender’s Office she represented adult and juvenile defendants charged with both felony and misdemeanor cases. She also received the Trial God Award for having tried the most cases of the entire Public Defender’s Office for 1999. In that same year she also received the award for having the most “Not Guilty” verdicts for that year.
After leaving the Office of the Public Defender, she accepted a position with The Walker Law Offices where she remained until May 2008. At The Walker Law Offices she handled all types of cases including personal injury, family, criminal and probate matters. In 2008, she started her own firm, the Law Office of LaFonda E. Gipson-Middleton and now known as The Middleton Law Firm.
In 2009, she was a founding partner with the law firm of Dorrell, Gale, Middleton & Wright, LLP.
LaFonda currently is the sole owner of her own law firm, The Middleton Law Firm. Her primary practice areas are personal injury and health care directives. She is known for her diligent representation for clients facing serious and often traumatic injuries.
LaFonda is a member in good standing of the Florida Bar (1997), Georgia Bar (1996) and the Tennessee Bar (2008).
LaFonda is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Jack & Jill of America, Inc., D.W. Perkins Bar Association and Albany State University National Alumnae Association where she was the past president and past vice president. She enjoys mentoring young children who dare to dream. Her hobbies include reading, relaxing at the beach, and traveling.
